Disney’s Cinderella (1950 animated version) was the film I watched every single night before bed between the ages of 4 through 6. It’s a deeply comforting film for me, and so formative of my young artist brain and I didn’t even know it. Mary Blair, who would become a major artistic influence for me, worked on so much of the visual development of the film. The story of a girl with big dreams, a tender heart, and many animal friends became a core memory for me.
Cut to me now with eight pets, tending to my chickens every morning with my sleepy dogs in tow.
