Introducing: The Art Salon
A new, exciting live feature coming in 2026
I’m cooking up something fun for 2026 – The Art Salon! The idea grew out of a need from my live painting classes this year. The feedback I got from students was that they really enjoyed having a community to gather with and create art, so now I’m going to be hosting a monthly art date starting in January called The Art Salon here for paid subscribers.
A salon was traditionally a gathering for an exchange of ideas, with notable ones including a literary salon hosted by Gertrude Stein in Paris.
The Art Salon is going to be my paid subscribers-only monthly art date where we gather together over Zoom to draw, sketch, and paint together. I’ll give monthly themes, and you’re welcome to paint along with me or work on personal craft/art project. There will be live Q&As, guest hosts, interviews with my many amazing artist friends, and more!
Q: Who is this for?
Whether you dream of learning to draw better, building an illustration business, or simply having an art hobby, The Art Salon is a warm, welcoming place where you can gather in community with other kind, warm, like-minded folks. We’ll gather monthly for an art date to draw together, discuss what’s on your desk, and share stories and advice.
In addition to the monthly Zoom, you’ll also have access to the subscriber-only Chat where you can share your artwork throughout the month and get helpful feedback.
Q: What do you do in it?
The Art Salon is a container of time and space where we spend an hour together committing to our creative craft. I'll give monthly themes with references, and you're welcome to draw along with me or work on a personal craft/art project.
You’ll also be able to submit questions to be answered ahead of time, or ask questions live in person for a live Q&A. Each month will be slightly different, and can include anything from: sharing new supplies I’m excited about, doing art demos, bringing on guest hosts, interviewing my many amazing artist friends, and more!
It’s basically a time once a month you commit to making art – so whether you want to spend more time on a creative hobby, find a creative community, or peek into a working illustrator’s studio for an hour a month, you’re in the right place!
Replays will also be available afterwards for paid subscribers, so that if the time that month doesn’t work for you, you can still watch it or put it on to rewatch while you’re working on more creative projects on your own.

The only way to join The Art Salon monthly meetings and chat is by subscribing to my Substack. Another perk for you, dear reader: prices are going up January 1 to $10 monthly. But if you sign up now, you will lock in the current monthly subscription price or annual price until you cancel.

Q: Will you still do Live Gouache Painting Classes?
Yes! Those will continue in a longer format separately through my website, and as possible (so not monthly). Since those classes are focused on one subject and range from 2 to 3 hours long, this is a more accessible way to have a monthly art date.
